Israel Broadens Ground Operations in Southern Lebanon
Rafi Milo, chief of the Northern Command, indicated that the military had expanded the operation by an “additional step” to enlarge what he described as a forward security zone.
Since launching the current campaign on March 2, the Israeli army has frequently reported ground maneuvers in southern Lebanon, while Hezbollah asserts it has confronted the advancing Israeli troops.
Israeli operations have reportedly taken place in numerous border communities, including Khiam, Adaisseh, and Kfar Kila in the Marjayoun district, as well as Kfarchouba in Hasbaya and Dhayra in the Tyre district. Hezbollah, in multiple statements, maintains that it continues to repel these incursions.
In retaliation, Hezbollah has fired rockets and deployed drones targeting Israeli forces and military vehicles in southern Lebanon and northern Israel.
Coverage of the fighting is heavily restricted under Israel’s military censorship, which enforces strict limitations on reporting troop movements and engagements with Hezbollah. The rules prohibit the release of related footage without prior authorization and restrict information regarding casualties.
Milo asserted that the army had killed over 750 Hezbollah members and destroyed various infrastructure across Lebanon.
