Global Leaders Convene in Istanbul for STRATCOM 2026

(MENAFN) Ministers, diplomats, communication experts, and global leaders gathered Friday in Istanbul for the International Strategic Communication Summit (STRATCOM) 2026 to discuss rising global instability, mediation diplomacy, digital transformation, and challenges to international legitimacy, according to reports.

Hosted by Türkiye’s Communications Directorate, the summit brings together officials from across regions to explore how strategic communication is transforming diplomacy, governance, and security. The first day featured six panels, with further sessions planned for the second day.

Global Order and Disinformation

During the panel *A New Framework for the Global Order: A Strategic Communication Perspective*, speakers emphasized how the international system is under strain amid increasing disinformation.

Fuat Oktay, head of the Turkish Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee, highlighted Türkiye’s efforts to maintain dialogue with both Eastern and Western actors and its ability to engage in nearly all conflict zones through trust-based approaches.

“Transparency and openness are fundamental requirements in the field of strategic communication; a clear and open communication approach should be adopted,” he said.
