Shooting Claims Seven Lives in Ecuador
According to a report, a group of armed men dressed in black arrived at a billiard hall in Santo Domingo, the provincial capital, early Sunday and began firing at those inside the establishment.
Following the event, local law enforcement sealed off the crime scene.
Preliminary investigations revealed that among the deceased were a retired police officer and a suspected leader of a criminal gang known as "Rasta."
Santo Domingo de los Tsachilas, situated between the Andes Mountains and the Pacific coast and at the crossroads of various drug trafficking routes, has experienced frequent violent incidents tied to gang rivalries.
