Putin Invites Trump to Visit Moscow

(MENAFN) In a notable diplomatic gesture, Russian President Vladimir Putin extended an invitation to US President Donald Trump to continue peace negotiations in Moscow.

Breaking from his usual use of Russian, Putin addressed Trump in English at the conclusion of their joint summit in Anchorage, Alaska, a rare linguistic move intended to underscore the significance of the moment.

Trump, responding positively, noted that while political resistance was likely, a follow-up meeting in Moscow was within the realm of possibility.

During the post-summit press briefing, Trump characterized the discussion as “extremely productive.”

He acknowledged that while no final agreement had been secured, they were closer than before, saying, “we didn’t get there, but we have a very good chance of getting there.”

He praised the discussions as a step forward and emphasized what he saw as a robust personal connection with Putin.

“Today’s agreements will help us restart pragmatic relations,” Trump stated, reflecting optimism about renewed diplomatic ties.

At the end of the event, Trump expressed gratitude to Putin, signaling his anticipation of future dialogue. Putin’s brief use of English—“Next time in Moscow”—prompted Trump’s lighthearted reply: “That’s an interesting one. I’ll get a little heat for that one. But I can see it possibly happening.”

Putin, in turn, expressed appreciation for what he termed Trump’s “friendly” demeanor and “results-oriented” stance. He suggested that such an approach might be the beginning of a pathway toward settling the conflict in Ukraine.

Calling the conversations “constructive,” he once again asserted that, in his opinion, the war in Ukraine might have been avoided had Trump been in office when hostilities erupted.

The joint appearance and mutual expressions of goodwill, as reported by a news agency, suggest cautious but noteworthy progress in what remains a highly complex international dialogue.
