Polish Premier Asserts Coalition Stability
“The government has a stable majority,” Tusk posted on the social platform X after holding discussions with leaders of the four-party governing bloc about a potential Cabinet overhaul, as reported by a state-operated news service.
He continued, “As you can see, maintaining the coalition is difficult, but possible, as is rebuilding the government and agreeing on a strategy that will allow for a revival after losing the presidential election. It requires, of course, courage and loyalty.”
These remarks came in response to growing discontent and rumors regarding the durability of the coalition, which comprises his Civic Coalition (KO), the center-right Poland 2050, the center-left Third Way, and the Left.
Speaker of the lower chamber, Szymon Holownia—head of the centrist Poland 2050—dismissed speculation that he had been negotiating with the opposition to create a new ruling bloc.
This follows his recent meeting with Law and Justice (PiS) party leader Jaroslaw Kaczynski, which he conducted without prior notice to his own party members.
Kaczynski, for his part, has publicly affirmed that PiS intends to reclaim control during the 2027 parliamentary elections.
Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski, representing the Left, remarked on Tuesday that the alliance is currently experiencing its most precarious phase since it assumed office in late 2023.
